DATABIT.ME #0.1 (8-9 October, Saint Remy de Provence, France) is a series of festive meetings organized around current digital art practices. This multimedia series strives to initiate relationships between the local artists and public and digital artists from outside the region.
Databit.me strives to find echoes of their ways of thinking and creation, while seeking support and inspiration to push the festival experience further.
“Saint Remy de Provence is our home and this is why we want to bring and open our digital baggage here, to show works that are usually presented in metropolitans like Chicago, Paris and Berlin and in many venues and festivals all over the world.”
The theme of the first installment is bug and has two artists (Rosa Menkman and Gijs Gieskes) that are also involved in GLI.TC/H. The organizer David made a bumper for GLI.TC/H

About Rosa Menkman

Every technology possess its own inherent accidents. Rosa Menkman is a Dutch visualist who focuses on visual artifacts created by accidents in digital media. The visuals she makes are the result of glitches, compressions, feedback and other forms of noise. Although many people perceive these accidents as negative experiences, Rosa emphasizes their positive consequences. By combining both her practical as well as her academic background, she merges her abstract pieces within a grand theory artifacts (a glitch studies). Besides the creation of a formal "Vernacular of File Formats", within her static work, she also creates (narrative) work in her Acousmatic Videoscapes. In these Videoscapes she strives for new forms of conceptual synthesis (synesthesia) of sound and video artifacts.
